This beautiful Handcrafted planter is a representation of a rare Zapotec Effigy Vessel  crafted in between 100 B.C to A.D 200. This beautiful piece of art is a legendary composition of a creature with reptilian (representing earth) and feline (representing sky) attributes. The rear part is crafted as a bird like tail, while the clawed limbs, pressed tightly to the body refer to an earthbound crocodile or possibly a turtle. The blending of these opposed territories – Sky and Earth – is a Zapotec expression of an ancient contrast present throughout Mesoamerican ideology and history.
